To whom it may concern,
Hello, I would like to ask if I can still apply for the competition as I have gotten my dates mixed up, and if I was to submit for the semifinals, would the pieces need to be memorized?
Thank you!

Hello, can you clarify repertoire requirements for video application vs the competition itself? Or are these the same? Thank you.

Hello, I am Ankur Mukhopadhyay, and I plan on applying for the competition.

I have a question about the competition. I see grand prize winners and winners of each age group. What is the difference? Does the first-place winner of each age group go to the finals and therefore be eligible for the grand prize?

Thank you,
Ankur

Hello, I am a pianist interested in the Chicago International Music Competition. For the Rising Star category, the regulations note that competitors should play 2 contrasting pieces. Is there a time frame for this? For example, would it work to play Bach-Busoni Chaconne in D minor and the final movement of Beethoven Sonata Op. 109 (approx 26 mins total performance time)? Or must it be a complete work for the Beethoven Sonata? Also, would the recordings I submit in the application be the exact competition repertoire for July?

Hi - I wonder for live competition in Chicago, does strings contestant need to arrange for his/her own piano accompanist? Also, if we cannot join in person in Chicago, will there be a final competition online, and can we choose another song(s) for the finals?

Dear Chicago International Music Competition,
I have submitted the application for my son, Dylan Zhang, for the Piano Solo-Young Musician II category.
I now realized that for his first piece, in the title, I forgot to put in “3rd Movement” in the end. Would you please update our application?
Sorry about this inconvenience.
Thank you very much!

P.S. I also sent you an email on this. I send it here again just in case my email server has a tech problem. Sorry about the duplicate.

Sincerely yours,
Peter Xinya Zhang

question about the competition & Festival 2023:
1) do repertoires in preliminary round and final round needs to be same?
2) Cost for In-Person Festival (international participant) includes accommodations & meals ?

Hi there, I have several questions about the competition regulations.
In solo category, how many pieces do the contestants need to play in the final round in person? Are they have to be the same pieces as the preliminary round?

Thanks!

Chen
